2021 Methodology for Determining Winners of the CoStar Awards

The following criteria represent the methodology used in generating the CoStar Awards for all categories. Each award is based on transaction data included in CoStar’s commercial real estate database, which is verified and continuously updated by our Customer Relationship Consultant. As this information is gathered and confirmed daily, totals and rankings could change when new information is obtained. Agents are encouraged to provide information on all transactions closed during calendar year 2020 to ensure they receive full credit for their closed transactions.

The award methodology for all CoStar Awards is subject to change at CoStar’s sole discretion.

Key Dates

  • Award period – 1st January 2020 to 31st December 2020
  • Data submission deadline – 5pm on 15th January 2021
  • Full results published – March 2021

The award methodology for all CoStar Power Broker Awards is subject to change at CoStar’s sole discretion.

How to Submit Data Amendments

You can check how you are performing against competitors and submit data directly by clicking here. You can also submit data through your normal CoStar Customer Relationship Consultant.

We will send out a number of reminder emails in the run up to the data submission deadline so that you don’t miss the opportunity to be recognised.

New for 2021

Based on feedback from CoStar Agency Awards participants we have made a number of changes.

One of the biggest changes is moving from a tighter CBD office definition to a market/submarket-based one.

The changes are as follows:

  1. These markets have been added to the office awards:
    Aberdeen, Central Scotland, Cardiff, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Central Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Coventry, Leicester, Northampton, Derby, Devon & Cornwall, Berkshire & North Hampshire, South Coast, Brighton, West London & Western Fringe, East London & Eastern Fringe, South London & Southern Fringe, North London & Northern Fringe, Black Country, Essex & Kent added to the office awards.
  2. More CoStar defined regions to be recognised for Industrial and Investment Categories
  3. West London & Thames Valley Office removed

T&C’s + Definitions

  1. Only data added or verified by CoStar Research to our database can be used in the agency awards.
  2. Any deals entered only by the user via the “Create a Lease Comp” module of CoStar Suite will not be included in the agency awards.
  3. Data received during the award period is received in good faith and we expect all participants to supply accurate data.
  4. CoStar reserves the right to omit any inaccurate or ineligible data from the agency awards. Should this situation arise, we will communicate our decision to the relevant parties prior to the release of our results.
  5. Single Branch Agency Awards – Calculations based on agents with one location who have completed deals in the relevant region.
